Fascist state censors Pirate Bay
We're quite used to fascist countries not allowing freedom of speech. A lot of smaller nations that have dictators decide to block our site since we can help spread information that could be harmful to the dictators.
This time it's Italy. They suffer from a really bad background as one of the IFPIs was formed in Italy during the fascist years and now they have a fascist leader in the country, Silvio Berlusconi. Berlusconi is also the most powerful person in Italian media owning a lot of companies that compete with The Pirate Bay and he would like to stay that way - so one of his lackeys, Giancarlo Mancusi, ordered a shutdown of our domain name and IP in Italy to make it hard to not support Berlusconis empire.
We have had fights previously in Italy, recently with our successful art installation where we had to storm Fortezza in order to get our art done. And as usual, we won. We will also win this time.
We have already changed IP for the website - that makes it work for half the ISPs again. And we want you all to inform your italian friends to switch their DNS to OpenDNS so they can bypass their ISPs filters. This will also let them bypass the other filters installed by the Italian government, as a bonus. And for the meanwhile - http://labaia.org works (La Baia means The Bay in Italian).
And please, everybody should also contact their ISP and tell them that this is not OK and that the ISPs should appeal. We don't want a censored internet! And the war starts here...

Our legislation on copyright is basically on a law of 1943, approved during WWII by fascism and signed by the king.
We're a Republic since 1948 and our Costitution dislike fascism, but we've conserved all laws from fascism period.
We don't admit officially other copyright licenses, like GPL or CC, cause "legally" every creation would be registered in SIAE, giving to them all rights (also rights of persecuting uses not authorized). An author of a song can't authorize itself a pianist for playing his song. If the song is registered in SIAE (and if isn't, isn't legally created, and the author isn't recognized) the pianist MUST pay the royalties, that eventually will be refunded to him by the author (if they are accorded) when, after a lot of MONTHS, he receive it from SIAE.
We've also some laws against Freedom of Speech, for example our penal code include apology law, that pratically means you can't say why you consider wrong a penal law. People can ask (with a lot of signs) elections for deleting a law, but not for a penal law, or better can't explain why that law it's wrong and would be deleted. If you can't explain, you'll obviously will not found never other people signing your petition (and you need at least 500, and with a REAL signs, not electronic ones
I'm so sorry for being Italian, for our very stupid justice, for our very bad country laws and on all for our very stupid prime minister, but trust me, I can assure you we don't be ALL so stupid. In last elections, with an absurd law on elections, other parties have been deleted from parliament. Now we've only two main coalitions, the Berlusconi's one and the Veltroni's one. All of them have approved laws against freedom on internet, and generally against technology innovations. For these reason, all the last governments are fascists, also the governments of "center-left".

Our largest torrent site (colombo-bt) has been shut down and the administrators have been heavily threatened by the law. The second largest (TNT-village) has been shut down once by their provider. Now they are re-uploading all the previous torrents (left trackerless) and are surviving under a subdomain of an innocent site (scambioetico). It's a bad and obvious trick, so I'm sure they will be shut down again.
So we Italians have got only TPB to rely on. Please keep on in helping us.
I INSTALLED OPENDNS and now I see again TPBsite (and my utorrent see TPB tracker), labaia.org is working, too.
Italy is a funny country. Years ago they put heavy taxes on dvds. 1 dvd costs today more than 1 €... sometimes 2€... So now we order them form Nierle for 0.15 , 0.25... and make Germans rich :-)

So I see no point in excluding the ip or domain name using filtres if there are option to censore bad content inside the website.
BTW, by default adult content should be disabled and only registred users should have a option to enable it.
The second problem is the virused materials. When a torent is reported that contain viruses the "Download Torrent" option should be blocked and the user should have a option to clean the torrent content and re-upload the torrent file.
To ban or block the user who submit such content is nonsense since he may have an antivirus who does not detect all viruses, insted disabling the download option untill the torrent is fixed it's much better. Could be a death line of 72 hours to do that.
I like the new features recently added to the script but I miss the bbcode or highlight features wich could make the description more reliefet.
BTW, previous mount was troble to access the domain from my provider (RDS), but the ip and subdomains, trakers and anything else worked. :)
Maybe you could start an initiative with other torrent sites to back each other up in such cases. Such solidarity will benefit everyone.

1) usava Telecom o alcuni altri provider diversi da quelli del punto 2 e NON usava OpenDNS
2) usava Fastweb o alcuni altri provider diversi da quelli del punto 1 e NON usava TOR o anonimizzatori vari
Dalla sera tardi del 9 agosto (oggi è l'11!!) il sito è tornato accessibile perché hanno cambiato l'ip, quindi sono tornati a posto tanto i dns per i provider che inibivano a livello dns quanto le tabelle di routing per i provider che inibivano a livello di routing.
