im using bitcomet and whenever i click download torrent, it shows 0 seeders. i left it on for 1hr and still nothing.
This has certainly been a long time coming, but my efforts in trying to work the Creepy & Cute pack has refocused me into sharing this to the world.
This is for Installing Spore on Tiger Macs, INTEL only! Sorry, but I think intels are the only computers this method will work on.
You'll Need:
*Spore Install Disc (could be downloaded offline too)
*Copy of the Creature Creator Installer (trial or full version, both will do I think).
*Intel Mac with OS 10.4 (little redundant now) with a property list editor (should be built in, but can be installed off of OS install discs or apple.com).
Procedure:
1. Right/ctrl click on your creature creator installer, and select 'Open Package Contents' from the drop-down menu. Navigate to Contents>MacOS. You should find 3 files: tgInstall and two file dispatcher files. Make a copy of them, or drag them to the desktop.
2. Make a copy of the Spore installer by dragging it to the desktop. Right/ctrl click and select 'Get Info' from the drop-down. Select 'read and write' from the ownership and permissions section.
3. Take the three files from the creature creator installer and use them to replace their counterparts in the Spore installer (right click, open package contents, Contents>MacOS).
4. Navigate to Contents>Resources and open the tgInstall.plist file. Open up the root menu, go down to Minimum System OS, and change the value from 10.5.3 to 10.4.11 (or whatever system you have).
You should now be able to operate the Spore Installer and install Spore to wherever you want.
5. Now fire up your Spore application. Now it will ask you for your license code. Enter it. Now it will ask you to install all three patches. Do so now. It will take a while, but wait it out.
Now Spore will bark at you for no having Leopard. No worry. Now is when we dissect the Spore application.
6. Right click the Spore application, and select Open Package Contents again. Navigate to the contents folder. You should see an info.plist file. STOP!!! DO NOT EDIT THE INFO.PLIST FILE!!!!!! Drag the info.plist file out of the contents folder, keep it safe in your Spore folder, and make a copy of it. Place the copy into where the original belonged. Open it up, open up the root tab, go down to Minimum System OS, and change the value to 10.4.11. Now you can play Spore!
Now whenever a new patch comes out. Delete the info.plist copy, replace it with the original, unaltered version. Install the patch, and repeat step 6. Why do we do this? Because if the iPatch updater detects any altered file of ANY kind, it WILL pull the plug on the patching process and bark at you to reinstall. As long as you keep the original info.plist unaltered and only for patching, things should work out fine.
This is as far as I could achieve. I have not yet discovered a method to install the C&C pack. This will require a hacker more brilliant that I.

But do note, Spore is buggy! BUGGY! So keep a piece of tape to mark where the save and quit buttons are. I'll let you find out why for yourself.

I could install Spore on my Mac with tiger thanks to Macxos90's method, I patched it just like he said, and then I inserted the crack. I've also tried without the crack, or with the other one Envinoveritas suggested. In some cases, Spore jsut wouldn't launch. In others, it launched, I saw the maxis logo and the whirlpool, but suddenly everything turns black and I can,t do nothing anymore. I figured it would be buggy, and the gameplya would suck asses, but I didn't think it would be that bad (not able to play at all). Sad, but I think it's the best we can hope to achieve with a GMA950 video card. Can't say I wasn't warned!
If anyone manages to make it work in some way with a mac osx tiger and GMA950 video card, I could appreciate the tip... But I won't rise my hopes too much!... Have fun, you guys!
